Transitions Program Expands to Lake County

The Transitions program just keeps growing! In the past two years, THP-Plus and Transition Age Youth (TAY) Wellness was incorporated with the Transitional Housing Placement Program (THPP) in Mendocino County to form our new Transitions Program. We are excited to announce that Lake County recently partnered with RCS so that we may assist transitioning youth in reaching their independence potential through the THPP and THP-Plus program in Lake County. Our Transitions Program provides emancipating youth the opportunity to learn and gain independent living skills from age 16-24, depending on their age, qualifications and their commitment to making a difference in their lives.

Statistics show that our emancipating youth face many hardships on their road to independence. When a young adult has no family to reunify with as they leave foster care (or the system) and with few independent skills, they face an uncertain and dangerous path that often leaves them without resources and in perpetual need and suffering. Homelessness has become a way of life for many young adults who have nowhere to go after care, but that is changing through a more aware and developed system of care. RCS is in the service of helping our youth reach their potential in order to create a healthy and caring community. RCS looks forward to meeting the needs of our Lake County young adults by providing support services and resources that will sustain them as they progress in their independence and become members of our community.
