Redwood Children's Services is an organizational provider for multiple counties offering Specialized Therapeutic or Behavioral Services to children (beneficiaries) who are directly referred through the County Mental Health Departments, Department of Social Services, State Adoptions, and private parties.
Psychotherapeutic, behavioral, and other therapeutic interventions consistent with the individual's goals, desired results, and personal milestones which focus primarily on symptom reduction as a means to improving functional impairments.
Activities which include assistance in improving, maintaining, or restoring a beneficiary's (or group of beneficiaries) functional skills, daily living skills, social & leisure skills, grooming & personal hygiene skills, meal preparation skills, support resources, and/or medication education. Rehabilitation may include group or individualized one-to-one services in the home, community, and other settings, and may include the pick-up ad drop-off of beneficiaries from their homes or school.
Rehabilitation services may include group activities or services on a one-to-one basis.
Redwood Children's Services provides Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) to children and youth with serious emotional problems who are experiencing a stressful transition or life crisis. These clients need additional short-term support to prevent placement in a group home Rate Classification Level (RCL) 12 through 14, or locked facility for the treatment of mental health needs, including acute care; or to enable a transition from any of those levels to a lower level of care.
Staffing is available on-site and one-to-one behavioral assistance and interventions to accomplish outcomes specified to the individual's Service Plan. Critical distinction between TBS and other rehabilitative Mental Health Services is having a behavioral specialist on-site and immediately available to the beneficiary for a specified period of time. Designated time periods may vary in length and up to 24 hours per day, depending upon the needs of the beneficiary in his/her Individual Service Plan.
The Intensive Rehab Access Project (IRAP), at Arrowhead Ranch, provides intensive rehabilitative services and support to children in our community who struggle emotionally as a result of self-defeating behaviors that inhibit their ability to relate and function pro-socially. These are children who suffer from significant distress and impairments that have been unresponsive to less intensive community based interventions
Through structured group activities, IRAP’s mission is to challenge and support the child’s learning and mastering of replacement behaviors through intensive rehabilitative skill-building in areas such as conflict resolution, impulse control, affect awareness and management, anger management, problem solving, social and relationship building, self-esteem, and leadership. As part of the child’s treatment process, IRAP blankets the family with support services so they may cope with their child’s emotional and behavioral problems, assist with the child’s growth and development, and be empowered to maintain the child in the home.
IRAP is designed to help each child explore his/her unique identity and value, build self-esteem, gain self-control, learn social skills, modify behavior, and connect with and express feelings that are encountered in the other parts of their treatment program. In this program, a way is found for each child to be heard and honored. The goal is for each child to eventually be able to respect and accept who they are and their own experience.
The Treeline Program provides rehabilitative and recreational services for adolescent youth, ages 14-17 yrs. This rehab setting teaches and challenges participating youth about cooperation, problem solving, self-esteem, trust, leadership, and overcoming fear and anxiety. Treeline provides activities and experiences that promote personal growth, encourage positive peer interactions, develop peer leadership skills, build self-esteem and self-confidence, and offers healthy alternatives to gang involvement and other self-destructive behaviors.
